My name is Ali Hennessey and I am currently studying journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. I am nineteen years old and about to complete my first year at UT. I come from a family of five in St. Louis, Missouri. I played many sports including lacrosse and field hockey. Other hobbies of mine include traveling, running, and socializing with friends.
I chose to study journalism after watching countless sports games with my father. I was always intrigued by the way reporters were able to capture remarkable insight from players and coaches after an exciting game. I loved the way they asked question after question, providing viewers with the most information they could in a short amount of time. I felt this sense of adrenaline that drew me towards the field. I was not only interested in sports, but all fields of news. The newsroom itself was a place where I felt comfortable, yet pressured to perform. I love how journalism is an ever-evolving field that is constantly changing. Journalists are the elected people who relay crucial information to the public. I want the responsibility to inform my fellow citizens of the happenings in the world with the utmost honesty and integrity.
University of Texas was the college I chose for many reasons. Austin is an up-and-coming city that has many resources for college students. Many businesses and industries reside here. As a journalist, there are many options for me when doing reporting and video projects. I can report on anything from a music festival to an environmental protest to the opening of a new restaurant. This versatility makes my job both exciting and enjoyable!
Please take the time to explore my blog. I will constantly be uploading my newest projects. Hopefully, you will see an improvement as I learn more and more about the field of Journalism here at UT.
